Sky Sports Football
Sky Sports has a wealth of football coverage on its channels, from the English Premier League to Formula One racing and cricket. The sports channel has also acquired rights to a wide variety of other sports too, including horse racing and American football.
The channel has a host of pundits, including Jamie Carragher, Graeme Souness, Gary Neville and Alex Scott. They are joined by in-game analysts and co-commentators on some matches.
Coverage of the English Premier League
The English Premier League is one of the world’s most famous and prestigious competitions, and you can watch every game from this season on Sky Sports Football. There are 126 live Premier League games and football shows to enjoy, as well as coverage of EFL and Scottish Premiership matches.
Sky Sports Football also includes highlights from each match. This can be found on the Score Centre app and website, and YouTube shortly after full-time.
EFL Cup
The EFL Cup is the second most popular domestic cup competition in England. It’s a knockout tournament with 72 teams in the first round playing single matches.
The competition is open to clubs from the top four levels of the English football league system – Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two.
Sky Sports Football broadcasts two matches live per round in the EFL Cup, the two-legged semi-finals and the final; a total of 15 live games every season. Mark Chapman hosts the games with punditry provided by select guests associated with the clubs involved.
EFL Trophy
The EFL Trophy is a knockout competition that involves clubs from League One and League Two and 16 invited under-21 teams from Premier League and Championship clubs. Taking place since the 2016/17 season, it’s the third most prestigious knockout competition in English football.
Sky Sports currently broadcasts 138 live matches across the Championship, League One, League Two and EFL Cup, including 15 in the EFL Trophy. Their coverage includes three Saturday 3 pm kick-offs, anchored by match commentators and including a special ‘EFL live’ telecast from Ireland.
UEFA Champions League
The UEFA Champions League is the most prestigious club competition in the world. A huge number of teams from Europe’s top football leagues compete for about 80 spots to qualify and set themselves apart as the best team in the continent.
The group stage involves eight groups of four teams, where clubs play each other home and away. The winner of each group moves on to the knockout phase.
UEFA Europa League
The UEFA Europa League is a club competition organized by UEFA. It is the second tier of European club football after the UEFA Champions League.
Teams qualify for the UEFA Europa League by finishing in the top half of their domestic leagues or cup competitions. Associations are ranked in UEFA coefficients, with the highest-ranked teams (from six to 12 since the 2015-16 season) qualifying for the group stage.
The competition is divided into twelve groups, with each team playing twice, home and away. The winners of each group advance automatically to the knockout round.
Scottish Premiership
The Scottish Premiership is the top professional football league in Scotland. Currently, the top two clubs are Celtic and Rangers.
Despite their dominance, there are still plenty of teams to watch this season. And it will be a real battle for all of them.
Sky Sports will broadcast 48 games live from the Scottish Premiership this season as Celtic aims to make history and win a tenth consecutive title. The new deal also allows Premiership sides to screen matches not chosen for TV coverage on a pay-per-view basis.
UEFA Super Cup
The UEFA Super Cup is one of the most eagerly-awaited fixtures of the European season. It features the winners of UEFA’s two most important club competitions – the Champions League and Europa League – meeting each other.
The Super Cup used to be held over two legs, but since 1997 it’s been played as a single-game final and if there’s a draw at the end of 90 minutes extra time is played and a penalty shoot-out is required to determine the winner.
In this game, Real Madrid will seek a fifth UEFA Super Cup win against Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany. This will be the German side’s first appearance in a Super Cup and they’ll be looking to tie the Spanish giants for most wins of all time.
